Jobs of the future — the impact of AI and robotics
For the past few years, I have been extolling the need for Singaporeans to retool and reskill as the advent of technologies like AI and robotics will displace jobs. Now that AI is here and its use will only become more prevalent, there is a growing concern about its impact on the job market.
The fear that AI will lead to job loss is real!
Thankfully, just like the proliferation of computers and industrial robots did not erase the need for humans but created new jobs, I see the same trend for AI. In my view, jobs of the future will fall into three main categories:
Those that work ON technology. This category of jobs includes roles such as data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers. These professionals will design and build AI systems that can analyze large amounts of data and provide insights that can inform business decisions.
