Murphy was wrong!

Murphy’s law is an adage that we have all heard, and it typically states that if anything can go wrong it will. The truth in this adage lies in probabilities. In other words, over a large enough number of occurrences and a long enough period, even the most improbable will occur.

While Murphy’s Law is a good consideration for project planning, extending it to our lives is a recipe for failure. This is because while everything is possible, not everything is probable. Even as it is foolish for us not to consider the consequences of the actions we take, we should however not allow an excessive focus on what can possibly go wrong prevent us from taking action. Doing so will limit us from achieving anything worthwhile in our lives.

As such, always weigh what can go wrong against the probability that it will go wrong. If the odds are in your favor, take action. Don’t let improbable possibilities keep you from pursuing your dreams.
