Retirement Income

For those who’ve been following me on my Facebook page Retirement Guru, you’ll know that I’ve been investing in ETFs for their dividends for nearly two years now. In fact, November 2024 marks my second anniversary. My results so far suggest that ETFs can be a dependable source of passive retirement income.

Two months ago, I decided to tweak my investment strategy to increase my monthly dividends. Prior to this, I invested only in shares that had TTM of between 8% and 12%. To increase my monthly dividends, I decided to bet a portion of my retirement nest egg (no more than 10%) on high-income ETFs like QDTE that have TTMs above 20%.

State of My Investment in QDTE

On 13 September 2024, I bought 25 shares in QDTE. As part of my pyramid investment strategy, I bought 75 more QDTE shares 4 weeks later making my average cost per share USD$41.27. Correct as at 11 Oct 2024, my investment in QDTE is summarised below:

According to DivTracker, QDTE’s TTM is 26.6% and this will give me an estimated Total Dividends of $1,135.29 for the next twelve months.

Assessment so far ….
