7 Insights From My Journey To Creating a Sustainable Retirement Income Stream

As I began preparing for my retirement two years ago, it became clear to me that having a source of retirement income (next to good health) is a pre-requisite for successful retirement living. After careful research, I concluded that the 4% Rule — a guideline used by financial planners and retirees to estimate a comfortable but safe income for retirement — was outdated due to longer life expectancies. The alternative I concluded, is to retire on dividends. As a dividend income approach does not require me to touch my capital, this approach will provide me with a perpetual lifetime income and the possibility of generational wealth for my children.
