Ultimate Life Lessons For 20-Year-Olds
I was recently asked what would I teach my 20-year-old self, and this is what I said ....
- Lesson 1. Unlike school, life gives you the tests first and the lessons after. Therefore, instead of asking "why is this happening to you," you should ask, "what is the lesson life is teaching you?" The ability to learn is the key to success.
- Lesson #2. Work and career are just means to an ends. This is because life is meant to be lived and experienced, and the ability to do what you enjoy on a daily basis is the ultimate ends that work and career give you. If you forget this, you will never live.
- Lesson #3. Embrace delayed gratification and spend your younger years accumulating passive income generating assets. Passive income gives you options and, in turn, the ability to live. Assets put money in your pocket on a monthly basis. Focus on these.
If I had known these three life lessons when I was in my 20s, life for me today would be vastly different. But, it is never too late.
