We never learn, do we?
As there is nothing much new under the sun, the challenge you are facing today has probably been faced by someone else before. As such, there is no need for you to reinvent the solution or, at the very least, there is no need for you to repeat the same mistake someone else made attempting to solve the problem. Either way, learning provides you an advantage in problem-solving.
Unfortunately, learning does not come naturally and, outside of school, we first experience things before we derive some kind of lesson from the experience. While it is good to see more people embrace the value of learning, this is only one-half of the equation. Reaping the full value of learning requires us not only to create the knowledge, but it also requires us to organize and use it.
To this end, my career in the Army had equipped me with a valuable life skill — the BAR-DAR-PAR process. I firmly believe that the ability to learn and apply the learning is a key success factor for any individual. This is because successive incremental improvements, when compounded, produce significant large improvements.
