Why Singaporeans Should Not Worry About Politicians Like Brad Bowyer ….
Opposition politician Brad Bowyer resigned from his fourth political party this week.
Brad and the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) have been under attack for Brad’s anti-vaccination rhetoric and holocaust reference, and Brad resigned as his views were in conflict with the PSP’s and he felt that he needed to continue to voice them.
Singaporeans are generally up in arms with Brad and they are pushing back on social media. But, instead of backing down, Brad has done a Trump and doubled-down on his message.
To me, Brad is only pushing an anti-vaxxer view as he sees it as a platform to attack the government to further his own political aspirations. His message is not about the dangers of the vaccines per se, but about how the Government is failing Singaporeans.
I believe that Singaporeans have nothing to fear from politicians like Brad Bowyer. Singaporeans are practical. To know this, you simply have to observe how they voted in past General Elections (GE), and you will know that the majority of Singaporeans do not want rabble-rousers.
The Brad Bowyers of Singapore politics have been emboldened by their performance at the last GE. They have however failed to realise an important distinction. Singaporeans did not vote for them. Singaporeans voted against the PAP. As such, their continued antics will not win them the additional votes to cross the 50% threshold. Instead, their continued antics…
